Seat Alhambra Key Problems
Seat's MPV jumbo family is among the best in its class when it comes down to resale values. With a new model on sale, the Jumbo family MPV is better.
There are many reasons why the key fob might not function properly, such as a dead coin battery water damage, receiver module problems or signal interference. This article will guide you through the steps necessary to fix it.
Water Damage
If your key fob for the seat alhambra survives the wash cycle, a dip in the ocean or a pool then it's equipped with a waterproof chip. But, The KeyLab shouldn't do this often, as prolonged exposure to water increases the chance that the key fob will be damaged. If the key fob stops working after exposure to clean water from the tap or rain, just take out the battery, clean the electronic component with a towel and let it dry completely before putting it back in. If the battery is exposed to soapy or salty water it is recommended to wash the chip with isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner prior to attempting to put the battery back in.

Faulty Receiver Module
If you've tried a new button cell battery and the key fob still cannot be locked or unlocked, it's likely the receiver module has developed a fault. The positive side is that this is an easy and cost-effective fix. You can disconnect the 12 volt battery for about a couple of minutes (first take off the negative cable then press the horn button a few times) to remove any remaining electricity, and then connect it in reverse order e.g. Positive first, then negative.
ESP Warning Light - If the ESP warning symbol flashes this is normal and means that the car is driving over terrain where the traction between the road surface and the tyres isn't ideal, like gravel, snow or a lot of surface water. If the ESP light is always on, it means that there is a flaw in the system. This can be identified by using an iCarsoft i908 seat OBD code reader kit. It will provide you with a a detailed fault description.
Dead Coin Battery
A dead battery for the coin is one of the most common causes for the keys for the seat to cease to function. The key fob has a small button cell battery that keeps it powered. It is recommended to replace it by a new battery that is the same voltage, size, and specification as the original. When replacing the battery on the key fob, remove all metal clips and ensure that the contacts on the key fob are clean and corrosion-free.
If the key fob was exposed to water (such as rain or soapy tap water), it is recommended to remove and clean the chip with an electronic cleaner or isopropylethanol before installing a brand new battery. The chip is susceptible to moisture and could be permanently damaged. If the key fob is still not working after replacing the battery, it could be necessary to replace the entire key fob.
Faulty Receiver Module
If your key fob stopped functioning after replacing the battery, but it didn't work, or stopped working suddenly your receiver module might have encountered a problem. The receiver module is responsible for absorbing the radio frequency signals that are sent by your remote key fob and transform them into electrical commands that are then utilized by other modules within the car.
If the receiver module has a problem it will not be able to accept any commands from your remote key fob. In this situation, you will have to visit a dealer to reprogram your key fob as well as a new receiver module.
The key fob is fitted with rubber seals that stop water from entering the electronic chip inside. If you immerse the key fob into salty or soapy water it could cause damage to the chip. If your key fob does not function, you can try cleaning the chip with isopropyl or an electronic cleaner.
If the keys are in a pair but the receiver module has developed a fault you may try to restart all the on-board electronics by removing the 12 volt battery for a short period of time. Connect the battery in reverse (negative cable to positive first). This resets all the on-board electronics and should bring them back to their original functionality.
Electronic Chip Faulty
The key fob comes with a chip that transmits a signal from the key to the receiver module every time the key is used. If the signal does not match the one that the car has stored, the immobilizer will disable and prevent the vehicle from starting. If, however, the key fob isn't working and you cannot reprogram it the issue could be due to a faulty chip.
The chip inside the key fob may have to be replaced to allow it to function again. The best way to do this is by removing the key from its housing and then using a pin needle to connect with each of the metal clips that hold it. You will require replacement when they're damaged or corroded. Make sure that any replacement batteries are of the same size, voltage and specification as the original.

For example, some owners have experienced problems with the automatic climate control system, which may become faulty and stuck in a specific setting. The infotainment system can also fail and cause freezing of the screens.
